Papyrus 2.0 for Smartphone Released

Papyrus 2.0 for Smartphone has been released with the following changes-

Instead of having to rotate through all views to get to a particular view, the user can now click on the View menu to bring up a graphical list of views. The user can press a number directly to select a view, or use the d-pad and action button to select a view. The old way of navigating views still exists and has been made an option for those that would prefer it, but this new navigation method is now the default.

The quick view list of appointments and tasks has been moved to the side in monthly view on landscape devices.

A new, uniform look and feel has been incorporated into the appointment and task editing screens to make information entry much easier and more intuitive than ever. All similar data entry dialogs, such as settings, use the same style.

New to this version of Papyrus is Search capability. You can now search for appointments and tasks containing a certain string or portion of a string. Within the search results, you can open the found items directly for editing, delete them, etc. Additional search options are available to modify how Papyrus searches for items.

...and many more changes are included.

QOTD: What software do you think is missing?

At a risk of turning this into a "My device isn't like an iPhone because..." thread, what do you think is missing from the Software Market for your device?

I can think of lots of little things I'd love to see, but nothing that's significant.

Palm Treo Pro Official!

PTPThe worst kept "secret" recently has finally been made official (I'm still waiting for the email retraction from Palm) and it's "specifications" have been confirmed:

  • 400Mhz processor, 320x320 display
  • HSDPA / UMTS / GPS / WiFi
  • 256MB ROM (100 to user) / 128MB RAM
  • 2.0 MP Camera
  • 1500mAh battery
  • SDHC (<32GB) supported
  • Windows Mobile 6.1
  • 133g

At first glance, my thoughts would be "everything i'd expect as standard", nice weight and battery seems decent.

For the eager beavers and more information, see Clove for the product page and if you wish to make a pre-order.

Thanks to everyone who let me know, and to Statto as the first mailer.

Pocket Programming Language

pplOne last item in the "Programming" vein, if you've not seen "PPL" (Pocket Programming Language) from Arianesoft, it's worth a look for budding entrepreneurs.

The included libraries make starting game programming extremely easy.  Even I had sprites bouncing around the screen within minutes.

For "forms based" applications, there's an IDE included.

The "Professional" edition is currently heavily reduced (even cheaper than the standard edition!), and at just under twenty british pounds, i've snapped up a copy just for a play.

There's also a decent length trial if you just want a look, and monthly "newsletters" with examples and tips that make the programming easier.
