Clie World was
formed on 16th January 2001 and was built to give up to date news on Clie
related software and hardware releases. It changed to PDANews24 on 1st July 2003 to cover all Palm OS Machines
and the final name change was to PDA247. It wasn't completely final as the site was later split into Palm247 and WindowsMobile247 to cater for both of the main platforms in this market. In that
time we have produced over 21,000 news articles, 510 reviews and over 100
interviews with a daily update rate of more than 98%. The aim of the site is to
be the best and most consistently updated Palm and Windows Mobile site on the net and to build a
community of enthusiastic users who are willing to help each other when they
can. Here are some of the main players involved in producing the
site.
YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE NEWS AND REVIEWS TO 247 BY SENDING AN EMAIL TO WEBMASTER@247CORP.COM OR BY POSTING NEWS SUBMISSIONS IN THIS FORUM THREAD. Regular contributors recieve membership to the 247 Club
and we are always on the look out for people to help with the running
of the 247 sites. If you want to be involved drop me a line at the
email address above.

Shaun McGill- I set this site up back in early 2002 when
I purchased my first Clie, an N770CU. It was an impulse buy but I have not used
any other make of PDA since (at least not for long periods of time). I recently
upgraded to a Tungsten T3 and this has given me a new perspective on the Palm
OS environment (but since then I have moved back to a Clie- the TH55). Thanks
must go to my wife Joanne and my beautiful son Tom who have been very tolerant
of the amount of time I have spent building and running the site. Alice has
since arrived and is also being tolerant:)
WindowsMobile247 is a recent addition to our
range of sites and in the future SmartPhone247 should be developed to cater for
the fatest growing sector. All are badged as part of 247 corp (www.247corp.com). |

Bert Austin- It would be fair to say that the site is what it is today
because of Bert from designsbybert
who has spent many, many hours creating a template which can evolve over time
and expand as new sections are added. He is always there when I need technical
advice and has done all of this for no reward at all. |

David Eaton- More than 60% of the reviews on PDANews24 are down to one
man- David Eaton. He also writes the Clie
Connections section of PDA247 and never fails to deliver quality
content when it is needed and has now built up a very impressive body of work
for you all to enjoy. |
Michelle Ionta- has replied to
hundreds of your PDA technical support queries and rarely gets praise for her
work. Is an absolute diamond and has helped this site tremendously over the
past 18 months. |

Lee and Kenny- these two guys have submitted countless news articles and
tips for future content over the past 18 months. It's hard to count their
contribution but it must run into 1000's of articles. There are others who have
also made major contributions and their details will be published once I have
their photographs:) |
Clark Fralick has supplied countless images and
graphics for the site and has entered and won many competitions over the past
18 months (well deserved). He's also a whizz at review writing which means he
is one of annoyingly overly talented people that the rest of us
hate:):):) |
Neil
Brown has made the biggest impact on the PDA247 forum and has a
knack for dealing with people firmly whilst still remaining calm and not
getting their backs up. He's also a brilliant review writer- top bloke!
Neil now updates the daily news as well and has
even grown a beard (silly boy:)) You can reach him at
neil@pda247.com
|
Mike Featherstone is a relative newcomer to PDA247
but he has done a lot in a small space of time. Not only is he an excellent
review writer (examples of his work are
here) but he is also
brilliant at news posting and has become a key member of the PDA247 team... and
he manages to help raise 2 children as well- Ruth and Sam. He's contactable at
mike@pda247.com. |
Philippa- "Hi, my name is Philippa and I'm
really pleased Shaun's given me the opportunity to write for the site as it's
been one of my favorite visits since I bought a clie t625 3 years ago. Whilst
striving for the perfect pda I've used various psions, pocket pc's and palm os
based pda's and am currently using a Treo 600 and Loox 720. When I'm not
playing with my pda's I'm busy with the not so small matters of raising my 3
year old son, working and writing a phd. I can be e-mailed at
philippac@zetnet.co.uk." |
I asked Sean Charles for a picture and his reply was
"Just nick something right size from Tom Cruises' site mate:)" If he
looked like Tommy boy he would get a lot more interest in his off the wall
articles. Not many people 'get' his writing but in my opion there is some
genius in there which often gets out and fortunately has done so many times for
PDANews24 and Syncronized Magazine. |

David and
Howard from Astraware have provided support for the site by way
of competition prizes, early notification of news and advice concerning how to
build the reputation of the site. As above there are more who deserve mentions
but their photos are needed first:) |

Xavier Martin
is another developer who has done a lot to help the site
continue. His recent groundbreaking TableTennis3D was announced on PDANews24
and to this day he continues to keep in touch whilst developing his
applications- people like this make the job worth doing:) He has since released
the remarkable MicroQuad... |
Jason
Goldman is one of the nicest
developers I have met through the site. When I
mentioned writing an article about the development of one of his games he sent
me progress reports every other day for months (!) and has always been there
for competition prizes etc. If you have not seen his work you really must- some
of the best Palm games ever made! |
Joel
Suplido from 1src has been there from the start. When I
started Clie World he offered me loads of advice, news clips and competition
prizes etc.- a great guy who is on the left of the
picture:) |
