eBook Review: No Second Chance by Harlan Coben

1 July 2007 by Shaun No Comment

My last eBook review was of The Woods by Harlan Coben and it received a disappointing rating for a variety of reasons. Despite that I decided to try No Second Chance which is described as follows- “When the first bullet hit my chest, I thought of my daughter… Dr. Marc Seidman has been shot twice, his wife has been murdered, and his six-month-old daughter has been kidnapped. When he gets the ransom note-he knows he has only one chance to get this right. But there is nowhere he can turn and no one he can trust.”

It is a long book and one that initially starts slowly but as the plot develops and the character descriptions become full it quickly becomes an intense and at times complex journey to the end. Coben has cleverly used the highly emotional subject and not overdone it in a way that many other writers would and ultimately produced a highly readable work that will keep you turning pages with anticipation right until the end, and what an end it is.

The price of under US$8 is excellent for a long book that works well- this has definitely moved Coben up my personal reading list.
