Here’s a question for the weekend. Do you use Twitter and if so, what do you think of it? Also, do you access it on your mobile device?
I am in two minds about it. On the one hand it is good to see what friends are up to, but on the other I can’t understand why people would care what I am doing. If you do want to know what I am doing my user name is ‘stmcgill’, but don’t expect anything remotely exciting to pop up on your Twitter alerts:)

I think presently we live in a society that is trying by all means to be “connected” all the time. The so called “social” services (applications, sites, messenger, second life, etc) are popping up everyday… it’s crazy. I just don’t understand how people have time to spend on all this stuff and still live a “regular” life.
Twitter? No thanks.
I use Twitter. (Statto1927 If you’re interested). It can be boring and it can be fun. Works for me – it’s sort of addictive in an odd sort of way. I too find it difficult to believe anyone would find what I do interesting. But after all it’s a social networking site. Think of it as a chat down the pub – without the pub and without the beer! LOL
Now following… although I have not found a decent WinMo Twitter client other than pure web browser and the mobile interface.
Funny you should ask. I just subscribed about a day or two ago. I’d avoided for quite some time since I could easily update my status on FaceBook. But, after reading about it in Fortune magazine I decided to give it a shot. Okay, so far…not spectacular, but okay.
I originally thought it was a terrible idea, but once I stopped being self conscious and just twittered away I got really into it. Sometimes it’s inane but I’ve come across some great people with very different perspective on things. As for time spent, it’s not like I’m there every minute or feel I have to read every single tweet, it’s something I do for a break or when I have a free moment e.g. waiting for a bus. Lets be honest, how many real conversations are actually profound?
I’m still not sure how I feel about it. I guess it depends on how you use it. Right now there is a whole iPhone dev community using it and it’s (usually) interesting to see what they have to say. I agree with Philippa it’s another thing to do while waiting for things. But I’d say you have to be careful not to say something you’d regret because it could come back to haunt you.
i love twitter. not for any sort of social interaction, but as a miniblog of sorts. when i’m out and see something interesting (but not worthy of a whole post) a quick text puts it up on my blog. a friend says something funny? it gets immortalized.
i don’t follow anyone and i’m dumbfounded as to why anyone would follow me, but it’s great for what i use it for.
