Will developers embrace webOS? Interview with Tam Hanna

tamoTam Hanna from Tamoggemon has answered some questions for PDA-247 regarding webOS and Tamoggemon’s potential development for this platform.

1/ What was your initial impression of webOS and the Palm Pre hardware?

The hardware of the pre is ok…But this is nothing to expect nowadays. Getting decent specs together is a must-have in todays industry and does not deserve praise. The real eeker will be build quality…And I am pretty sure that Palm will skimp around here.

As for the webOS: it is a strange new concept, which I have troubles with.

2/ Do you have plans to develop for this platform, and can we expect to see some of your existing titles ported over?

I myself would say no immediately…But this is as I am from a developer generation which considers even mundane things like object-oriented programming superfluous. So, if it were my choice, I would say no way.

But, at Tamggemon’s, we also have a younger developer (not physically…But he was trained in a different age than I was). Simon is enthusiastic about the idea…He will definitely do stuff for webOS.

Tamoggemon currently works on a very impressive S60 app which will likely be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress, and also has its existing library of titles. So there will definitely be a lot of stuff upcoming for the webOS from Tamoggemon’s….

3/ In your opinion, is Palm back in the game?

Sales-wise, definitely. But the good old Palm OS economy is dead….
