Another webOS device coming this year?

pre2TechCrunch is claiming that a second webOS device may be coming from Palm this year. Details are of course very sketchy, but the source is claimed as being a good one. “And then, wham! A whole new rabbit hole to jump down. One of our better sources indicated to us that Palm is “very far along” on a second Pre-like device and currently has plans to put it on the market in the late part of 2009, possibly as early as the Fall.

This is too soon for a second generation device (Apple releases new generation iPhones yearly). and Palm won’t be expecting people to upgrade their Palm Pre to this new device just a few months after buying a Pre. It’s addressing a different part of the market.”

Do they never learn? Most of Palms problems come from them releasing far too many devices in a short space of time. How many major iPhones are there? How many Palm Pilots did Palm used to release when they made money?

Make one good device not five with different minor flaws to each.

Yeah, like Apple released only one phone during the first year, one without 3g, copy paste and mms…

Seems a little harsh Matt! Two devices are manageable I would have thought. They need to be bold really, and if they can produce (for example) a budget version it may well be good for their chances of survival.

To be honest, I’d like to see ONE ACTUAL device released before I even begin to speculate about another.

I hope the other unit will be on the AT&T network which will help spread WebOS availability.

Of course this could just refer to the GSM version, with the other stuff about sizing being just made up rumours.
