My Top 10 BlackBerry Applications

moneyThere are not too many BlackBerry applications available at this time, but a root around will highlight some gems that are well worth hunting down. Here is a list of my personal top ten-

1/ Ascendo Money. I have mentioned this many times, but it would be daft to not include it in this list. It is quite simply the best mobile finance application I have ever used on any platform. I could spend time talking about all of the features, but my review is here.

2/ TwitterBerry. In my view this is the best Twitter client for the BlackBerry platform. The limitations of the OS mean that the display is not as inviting as some others, but it is quick and works extremely well even on slow connections.

3/ TetherBerry. This application has proved to be very popular so far and there is good reason for that. Not only can it allow you to use your BlackBerry to access the internet on a laptop, but it claims to use standard data which should stop your network provider from hassling you!

4/ QuickLaunch. This simple application can dramatically speed up the way you use your BlackBerry and following a short learning curve you will be flying around your system like never before.

5/ BerryWeather is one of the more expensive weather applications for the BlackBerry, but it is also one of the very best. Graphically excellent and in the first few weeks it proved to be very accurate for me.

6/ Aerize Card Loader. One of the main drawbacks of the BlackBerry system is the lack of internal memory and the inability to install applications to an expansion card. Card Loader solved all of this for me- perfect!

7/ Aerize Email Alerts. Aerize strikes again with its email alerts application. There are a few similar applications on the market and it will be down to personal choice as to which one you prefer. I went for this one simply because it took up little memory and is very fast.

8/ Ascendo DataVault. Just as good as Ascendo Money and with so many features that you will be hard pressed not to find everything you need. Carefully programmed, intuitive and about as good as it gets on a BlackBerry.

9/ got-2 Pro. A simple task list and appointment manager for the BlackBerry which manages to offer a different look which fits the standard OS interface well. It is very quick and one of the best of its kind.

10/ e-mobile Today. This application is complimented with a huge range of add-ons and extras which bring the Windows Mobile today screen to the BlackBerry platform. If you like this application, it will be the daddy of all third party applications for you.

So there you go. This is just a quick glimpse into the world of BlackBerry third party applications which highlights how well this market covers all of the bases. More applications are being released every day so keep an eye out for what is coming soon- I have seen some truly excellent applications that are close to release and will post the details when I won’t get shot for doing so:)

I sort of now prefer Berry Popup over the Aerize version.
