QOTD: 6 months?

qotd1What smartphone do you expect to be using in 6 months time? I’m guessing it will be either an iPhone 3G or Palm Pre, but suspect the 3G will hang in there for a while yet.

Without a doubt I will be using my Nokia e71. Now that I have been able to link my iPod Touch to my Nokia so that I can use the Nokias Internet connection I don’t need an iPhone. I also have 2 batteries to run down.

I’m not intentending to get the 3gs at the moment. I’m sure the performance is better, but the performance on my current iPhone is not bad enough to make me pony up that much cash.

I’m still interested in the Pre too. Honestly I’m not sure what I’ll be using.

    HTC Touch Pro 2

Currently I have the Omnia, I may still have that. I would love the new toshiba TG01 or the new omnia coming out, but they may still be too expensive for me in 6 months…

Still my iphone 3G though if I can ever “find” the cash I’d look at the iphone 3GS.

    Palm Centro!
Unless someone will give me a Palm Pre (Ha! live to dream).
Especially since I have only just today swapped to this from my HTC Touch which has annoyed me for the last time.

iPhone 3G with a Palm Centro as emergency backup

  8. Tonyk says:

I expect to still be using a Nokia Symbian phone.

    iPhone 3GS.

@gavinfabl – How did you manage to link your Nokia to the iPod Touch? Interested to do that myself.

As for what smartphone, I’d love to be able to get the Nokia N79 on my next contract but only t-mobile seem to be doing it and our street is a blackspot for them. So i might end up emulating Gavin by pairing my iPod Touch with an E71. Currently using the Nokia 6120, btw.

HTC Touch (CDMA model). Don’t make enough to save up for anything else.

Palm WebOS device and/or Nokia N900 Mameo tablet

Actually, having seen the new htc hero I am tempted… It has to have a better battery life than my g1 (what hasn’t) and the andriod tweaks are very nice.

    @Alloafan

It is really simple. I installed a free app on my Nokia E71 called Joikuspot Lite. Activating this turned my Nokia E71 into a wi-fi hotspot beaming my T-Mobile internet connection over wi-fi. I simply went to my iPod turned on wi-fi , selected Joikispot, went into the settings and amended HTTP to “Auto”. This is the last setting and you need to flick screen down to see it. And then I started browsing etc. Jokiuspot is available for numerous symbian phones http://www.joiku.com/?action=product…product_id=310

    Neat.

I’d love to switch, but it takes a lot of effort to find apps for all my sales & project data, so it’s not an overnight switch for me. As a result I’ll still be on the Bold in 6 months unless I tire of running out of memory & go to the Curve or something newer.

My upgrade is due in Jan 2010, so whatever WinMo phones that are out, at a reasonable cost. Or maybe the HTC Hero. UI looks nice and I do use a lot of Google products…

  18. Alloafan says:

@gavinfabl – thanks for that info, much appreciated.

  19. Mike says:

iPhone 3G. Not paying out for 3GS.

Ask me about six months after that however…
