QOTD: Fanboys and girls?

qotd21Are you a fanboy or girl of the smartphone you own? Does it annoy you when someone says that a competing phone is better than yours, or would you never admit it even if you were…

Who would admit it, if they were?

I am an iPhone user, but I am the first to admit it’s an imperfect device. I’m sure I’d also do well with a Blackberry – all models of which are also incomplete for my needs.

I suspect a Palm Pre (version 2) would be one of the most likely best fit devices for me – if they stay in business long enough to make one. The Treos had too many compromises over just owning a Palm PDA and a good cell phone.

Not me. I use all platforms .

    Me neither.

Btw, does anyone know why our friends across the pond say ‘me either’ when they surely mean ‘me neither’? Seen it a few times recently.

Also (sorry – this is way off topic!) I’ve seen folks using ‘could care less’ instead of ‘couldn’t care less’ – I just don’t get it.

There, rant over. No fanboy here & that’s no lie.

I don’t understand those two sayings in that way either, and ‘addicting’ is still one that bugs me a lot- it’s addictive!!!

Well I started my journey in search of the ideal business device – PIM and comms. So for me the OS/platform is not that important and like Gavin I use most OSs/platforms. But for business users, unfortunately, WM does make a lot of sense. Especially now with devices like the Touch Pro 2 with great call quality and battery life (I can always get over a days use). I think for me for personal use I will probably stick to Symbian because it is so reliable.

I’m a fan of tech, not a fangirl of one particular company. I do have favourites, but I’m not blind to their faults.

Same as everyone else really. Not a fanboy, although my heart errs towards certain devices (Palm for one).

I used to be a fanboy in the Atari/Commodore days. The Atari STFM was a WAY better machine than the Amiga ;-) – stands back and waits for inevitable response…..

I had the Atari STE. Fantastic computer!

Apart from the iPhone and Android I’ve tried everything else. I would go Android next, but there doesn’t seem to be a decent ebook reader available at moment (that I can find!)

I’m planning to go back to Symbian soon though because it’s so damn reliable and it just gets the job done.

I’ve been using my old E60 again, and it’s great the way things just work… but it’s slow compared to the E71 I’ve played with. I’m heading in that direction. I did ponder the E75… but I think the E71 seems like the device which pretty much got it mostly right in my opinion. I also need something more pda like than the E60… and yet a phone too.

If I am a fanboy, it’s one of gadgets and geeky stuff like that!

Doesn’t annoy me, if I see one, I just go buy it. At the moment, my iPhone is in one hand and my BB in the other! I’ve tried all the platforms. I tend to settle on the one (or maybe two) that are innvative leaders at a given moment in time. Sadly, that leads to switching as the Manufacturers come and go (ie Palm…)

I’m a huge fan of the iPhone – just as I was of the original Palm OS handhelds and of the Psion series 3/5 –  and I don’t mind saying so. Not sure if that makes me a fanboy, but I’m sure that some people would see it that way.

I’m a big fan of Windows Mobile over other OS mainly because of the flexiblity and large community of developers.

Despite this I am very aware of the shortcomings of winmob and when it came to getting a phone for my wife went for the Nokia 5800 for touchscreen capabilities, but with simplicity and a bit more stabilty from Symbian
