QOTD: Software?

qotd22How many mobile software titles do you purchase on average each month? I have a £50 credit in my iTunes account and can’t find anything to spend it on. I have been bitten by too many bad titles and tend to be choosier these days.

    I used to spend lots on iPhone software but like you I have cut down. Finding the good stuff on iTunes is more difficult now.

    More than I’d like – not from a cost perspective as iPhone apps are so (relatively) cheap, but it’s the ease with which you can buy stuff that you use once and then never use again!

    Agreed, I buy very little now, which comes into two categories:
    1. Software highly recommended by people I know well, or that I can use a decent demo of;
    2. Software I know from other platforms (Though that isn’t helping me so much with satnav – just wish copilot had a europe option) – In most cases, I’ve directly replaced where the software is available.

    I’m not spending anything since I went from Symbian to WM and back to Symbian. I already had what I wanted, and there’s enough free stuff out there to do what I need. E.g. Opera mini, Fring, Mobireader… Everything else I needed was built in. Over the years I’ve also learned to not be to impulsive with my purchasing, and I also know better HOW I use my device, and thus my needs.

    CoPilot does have a Euro option. It’s what I downloaded at £60. My concern is that it doesn’t seem to work well. It can’t find a route from the UK to Calais, Paris or anywhere else I’ve tried in Europe. Perhaps I have a dodgy setting and I am still working on this, but a Euro option certainly does exist.

    Not nearly as much as I use to, but I still find myself buying one or two pieces of software. Only if it’s cheap.
