QOTD: Spam?

qotd23What percentage of your daily email intake is spam? For me it is about 25% and it does cause me to continually look at my smartphone when I don’t need to. Grrrrr!

Back when I was using Hotmail, spam made up about 75% of all my emails. That was my first email account and I was signing up everything with that address.
A couple years ago, I switched to Gmail and amazingly none of the spam reaches my inbox. This could be because of Gmail’s filters or it could just be because I’m more cautious when releasing my email to sites.

I switched to Gmail about 2 years ago and still have 2 old email addresses forwarding to it. I now get almost no Spam compared to about 30% beforehand. Makes managing email much less of a chore.

The main reason for buying my G1 was because of the integration with Gmail and I wouldn;t consider moving to another email service now.

Not too much these days thankfully.

My main email is a Pipex POP account, and for ages they ddin’t have any spam filterig and the levels were atrocious. Now they’ve got it it’s much better. On my desktop I also use the excellent Mailwasher Pro to screen before download.

The bigger problem are things I’ve signed up to in the past, no longer want repeat info but keep forgetting to unsubscribe to!

I get maybe 3 spam emails a day on average (though I’m sure there would be many more without my ISPs SPAM filter)…

Basically none in my inbox – the odd stray one every now & then, that’s all. Gmail user.

I use Yahoo mail, and I get no spam at all. I use my laptop to connect to Yahoo mail online to clear any bits of spam that have been collected in the spam folder.

The strange thing is that I can’t connect to Yahoo web mail via my mobile anymore! I’m regarded as logged in, but that’s as far as I get!?
