News round-up: Moto Blur on a G1, Tweetie 2, Orbit and…
The Motorola Blur UI has ended up on a G1. I have no idea how it ended up there, but it shows what is possible in the open source world of mobile operating systems. Check out the video here.
Tweetie 2 has been released for the iPhone and is already receiving rave reviews. This is the app which caused many discussions because it is a paid-for update. Well worth the money in my opinion.
BlackBerryCool has previewed Orbit, a new social phonebook application, and it seems to have a lot of promise. It is a hard application to describe, but could be one of those which you use forever.
Tams is reporting on some YouTube videos which were posted showing a Palm Pre with expandable memory. The videos have since been pulled so there is no way to confirm that, but it would be nice if it were true. Not holding my breath though…
The iPhone has once again topped the J.D. Power survey for customer satisfaction. Apple scored 803 points with RIM in second with 724 points. “J.D. Power also noted that purchases of sub-$100 smartphones have risen over the last six months—meanwhile, satisfaction with traditional mobile phones is declining as consumers’ smartphone envy begins to set in. In particular, users who get free handsets for signing up seem to be on average more dissatisfied. In terms of their next purchase, 22 percent of consumers want their next phone to have Wi-Fi support, 21 percent want a touchscreen, and 17 percent want GPS—all, as it happens, iPhone features.”
XDA Developers has struck again and you can now find a fix for the Windows Marketplace annoying habit of only letting you install apps to main memory. Check out this thread for the downloadable cab file.
Maemo Central has released an unboxing video of the Nokia N900 and it sure looks pretty. Interesting website design they have- sure I have seen it somewhere else:)

Hey, thanks for the link. You must have seen a similar design to Maemo Central at The Symbian Blog, which is our sister site.
