QOTD: Mobile email?

qotd23How good is your mobile email experience, and by that I mean the email interface? I like the speed of delivery of my BlackBerry, but the layout of the emails could be much better. I like the layout on my iPhone, but the number of clicks required could be less and of course the data input never quite works for me.

The iPhone mail app takes too many clicks in and out of the Inboxes as you point out. My G1 is fine apart from the fact it only lets me reply at the top of an email. Bad netiquette google!

Gmail IMAP push on the Centro with Chattermail works really well. Haven’t been able to get the new Gmail MS Exchange service working with Versmail though :-(

Layout and display of emails on my 3GS is excellent; html mail is rendered perfectly, as are attachments. No problems with speed, either.

Email is unbelievably bad on the N97. So much so that I don’t even bother with it – at all.

The native email app on my E71 is surprisingly bad considering it’s suppose to be a business tool of sort! I’ve used Profimail, and though it renders emails nicely, it wastes so much space, and the UI is kinda ugly in my opinion.

I LOVED Snappermail on my Palm, and the Psion built in one just kinda did the job really well and felt like a desktop app (in terms of 1999 expectations)

SnapperMail on my TX is very good for receiving mail. It also sends mail well when connecting via my home wifi, but won’t send mail using my btinternet.com accounts when using a mobile phone as a modem.

On my Nokia 5800 I use ProfiMail, which again is excellent, but has the same issue with sending mail via 3G or GPRS. The funny thing is that the built-in Nokia email agent, which I don’t like as much (but has recently been improved) is able to send from my btinternet accounts – so Nokia clearly know how to configure to satisfy BT’s authentication requirements.

Finally, I also carry around my last 12 months of emails synced from my laptop on my TX, using Agendus Mail.
