How would you rate the service you receive in mobile phone shops? My experience is one of most polite service married with not much knowledge…

Poor but friendly and always trying to sell you a £35 plus per month contract !
Atrocious with O2.
Everyone one of the O2 stores I’ve used has been so busy, I’ve queued for at least 30 minutes.
In each case the queue has been more than twice as long as the number of staff in the shop.
Maybe i’ve been unlucky, but I’ve not picked launch days, or Saturdays, for example?
Generally poor but the guy on the O2 shop when I bought my iPhone was great. He was knowledgable, smart, funny and competent. This is the exception though.

Phones4U – never enter one of their shops
O2 – used to be better, now have too many incompetent staff
Vodafone – harmless
Carephonewarehouse – better than most
It’ll be interesting to see if there is a trend here as I too can comment on other shops.
Phone4U – Went in once. Felt “mauled” by their staff. Will NEVER go in one ever again.
CarPhoneWarehouse – Neutral and Mixed Feelings/Experiences.
Vodafone – A little aloof but not too bad
O2 – As I said above – okay with one exceptional experience that will warm me for a while.
All I ever seem to hear about Phones4U is very poor expereinces.

O2: enthusiastic but woefully under and mis-informed.
The T-Mobile guy that helped me at the Trafford Centre about 4-5 years ago was great. He’s the last person I dealt with in a mobile phone store – I bought my iPhone from the Apple store and that was a fantastic experience. I actually felt like I was getting a premium sales experience. Other than that all my other phones have been purchased SIM-free.
