1/ What smartphone are you using at the moment and which ones have you owned in the past?

At the moment I’m using a HTC Cruise and a TH-55 (Clié). I use the HTC mainly for communications (phone, texting, quick surfing, etc) and the TH-55 for PIM, more intensive work matters and entertainment (calendar, tasks, etc; editing documents; MP3, videos, reading, more intensive surfing, etc).

I started with a Palm M100, then the Palm IIIc and later the Clié NX70v. It has not been easy since 2000 to upgrade devices here in Portugal, as it was never a country that much faced towards these devices (I remember only seeing some Palm devices in display). I had to buy them from online auctions abroad and SONY never commercialized any handheld in Portugal.

2/ Which smartphone is the best you have ever owned?

I have only used mobile phones (Nokias) and PDAs. I don’t change devices a lot. The HTC Cruise is my first “smartphone”, so I have to consider it as my “best”. However, it lacks a few things… on the other hand I have the opportunity to use here and there a few smartphones at work, so I get to handle a few different devices.

3/ Which smartphone is the worst you have ever owned?

My mobile phones have been OK, not that “smart” but they do what they are supposed to do. The HTC?… it’s fine. Not great, just fine.

4/ Could you survive without your phone for a month? If not, why not?

It depends in what conditions, but yes, I could: if I’m with my family then I can perfectly live without a phone. If I’m working faraway from my family, then a month without a phone is too much!

5/ How would you describe your smartphone usage, and do you consider yourself to be ‘addicted’?

I’m an everyday user, but mainly due to work stuff. I also use the Clié’s entertainment side a lot when traveling to and from work. On weekends I hardly use the phone. Addicted? No, never. Actually I’ve forgotten the device once or twice at home and it didn’t bother me a bit , so…

6/ What does PDA-247 mean to you?

Let’s say everyone has its favourite sites/subjects that they visit everyday. As I don’t have much time I have to narrow my choices. So, daily I go to the following sites in the following order: 1. mobile matters (PDA-247); 2. favourite sports (Formula1 – 3 sites); 3. News (2 Portuguese sites). As you can see, PDA-247 is my number 1 site everyday! Great site, great people! Will keep ranked at the top for me!
