interview with wally

wallyin honour of wally i am going to write this interview without capital letters. he is 79 years old and is as involved in the smartphone world as most of you reading this. he never uses capital letters (never did work out why) and he has been an inspiration to me for the past few years- here is a quick interview with the main man who has kept me going when times have been hard-

1/ wally, tell us a bit about yourself and what phone you are using at the moment. also, what smartphones and pdas have you owned in the past?

my doctorate is in gerontology and i fight the invisible prejudice ….ageism … and sarcastic humor aimed at old people is dumb .. we gave you microwaves … computers and cell phones … sort of … oh btw … i am 79 and i love my iphone 3gs … it is better than my first newton  and all the rest in between ,,, i wrote 2 of my books on a kaypro  … now that is old

2/ why do you use a smartphone and what does it bring to you?

i read the news and call and write email and it keeps me in the world … it makes retirement where everyday is saturday better

3/ do you believe that age hinders your use of a phone or is it irrelevant?

age makes me slower but in many ways better ;-)

4/ what is your favourite ever smartphone app, and your favourite phone?

google and my iphone 3gs

5/ anything you would like to add?

i hope you are feeling better … the friends i have on line … like you …whom i have never met physically are the joy of my life

Inspirational! If I ever make it that far in life, I hope to still be playing with smart phones (or their nearest equivalent!)
