At what point do you tend to get bored with your current smartphone, and how long have you been using your current device? I must admit that my shelf life seems to be about 3 months before I feel the need to change, but it is getting longer. There should be a smartphones anonymous charity set up for people like me…

Generally once tweaked and something else appears
but I used to change monthly but know its 6 months as the handsets get virtually near to my perfect requirements .
The opposite at the moment. Having bought the HTC Touch Pro 2 and Palm Pre I now find that I still prefer my Nokia E90 and WM Palm Pro. These old devices are just better for business users (the HTC Touch Pro is okay but would be better with WM6.5). I have now cancelled my order for my HTC HD2. I am going to wait until the Motorola Milestone, SE X2 and Nokia N900 are launched as I really do need a fully functional business device not just one that I can fiddle with for a few weeks.
About 4 months. Smartphones have the same shelf life as men;)
I now move from contract to contract to get a new phone. It helps that I’m happy with my current phone. I wonder how my wife would feel if I changed women like I change phone… Not a bad idea though, getting the latest and greatest updates. And if you don’t like one after a while, you just update!
@ jah so our HD2 challenge is off !
About 6 months; mainly when a new device with better specs is launched: I just can’t wait the new HD2.
