Do you take any precautions against the perceived threat of viruses to smartphones? I take none at all because I perceive there to be no threat…

Same here. Those who install antivirus on their mobile device are just wasting RAM and cpu cycles…
Symbian has a very strong security architecture so never been concerned with Symbian devices. For WM I only install well known apps. On my Palm Pre I have avoided installing a apps I am not sure about – not sure how well designed the WebOS APIs/file systems protections are to stop viruses.
I too am unaware of any known threats. And certainly, I would be surprised if a PalmOS virus would ever appear. I must have security though obscurity.
I don’t take any precautions on the smartphone or PDA itself, but I always used to have a copy of my data and applications in a folder that was regularly scanned by AV software. (I did once come across a PC virus embedded inside a Palm .prc but I suspect that this is was because the author was infected rather than the he was attempting to infect!)
With WebOS and the Palm pre, this approach doesn’t seem to be possible.

I don’t care that much about it too, nevertheless I have have a simple antivirus in my Nokia (Symbian) just in case, but none on my WM device.
I never had a virus and hardly know of any, but I read something here and there. The only issue that draws my attention is the fact that, if you get a virus on your computer, you can remove or format it. On the phone if you get a virus you have very high chances of it using your network connection and you can end up having to pay a huge bill at the end of the month

Not interested.
The only virus I get is telemarketing!
