What do you think is the coolest smartphone brand? I personally think that BlackBerry is becoming very cool, against all the odds, and that now it is being seen as one of the phones to carry.

I’m not sure I have the qualifications to answer this, however I have seen a few of those “crazy” kids using Blackberries, whereas I’ve seen iPhones with all ages. If your dad wants an iPhone perhaps it isn’t cool?
I think that “Google Nexus” is probably the coolest brand at the moment. Anything that riffs on Bladerunner is cool.
Andrew
Android is as yet untainted by any naff celebrity association so I’ll go for that platform
I think the public in general would perceive Apple and the iPhone to be the coolest (at the moment).
However, being cool is not always cool
Nexus One is definitely the coolest name. Apple is obviously the coolest brand.
Let’s turn it around. Which is the least cool? Or perhaps that’s another QOTD.
What is cool?
Definition of uncool: commenting on a discussion thread about which is the coolest smartphone.
The iPhone is the only phone to make my wife go “Wow. Why don’t you get that!” It doesn’t mean it’s cool, but it certainly has style and has captured the attention of people previously either oblivious or just not that interested in mobiles. I think it was cool in the beginning when it came out and it belonged to a few exclusive people, making it cool. When every Tom, Dick and Harry has one it loses its cool status. Motorola’s Razr was cool when it first hit the scene. What’s cool now though? Nothing much I don’t think. I’m not sure if there is a phone out there with which you would want to be seen in order to be noticed as being somehow more special than everyone else in the room. And even if you do find one, next month it’ll be history and you’ll have to get a new one!
;-p
sadly its apple. although the htc hd2 is the coolest phone.
“although the htc hd2 is the coolest phone.”
Not in a billion years is it the coolest phone. Too big, and you own one;)
“What is cool?”
Too deep a question for us Statto:)
Don’t be sad, Gavin. Who knows what monstrosities HTC might have created had it not had the iPhone to copy.
Don’t be sad, Gavin. The iPhone isn’t cool either:)
Looks like we’re all having a slow Thursday.
My day at work has been hell- just blowing off steam…
I always knew you were full of hot air…
and thats why Shauns phones always break:)
my hd2 is the coolest – just been in freezer for 24 hours.
@ lazyboy – the hd2 is small and perfect. i hear there is a monstrosity from apple being announced soon.
@ shaun – the hd2 is perfectly sized – clearly you are not used to managing a larger tool
great to let steam off,
@ statto – you need to be cool to know what cool is
“clearly you are not used to managing a larger tool”
No no, just that my head is normal sized so the HD2 looks big next to it. I can see why you would think it is small:)
Hahahaha. Good stuff. Back to work.
@gavin
I’m way past the point at which I could have ever been cool. I’m nearer cold than cool!
The iPhone is definitely still seen as cool though. I was on a training days yesterday, and the facilitator finished the day with a “game” but needed a dice. Told us there was a prize for the first one to get her one.
Whilst some people just rolled their eyes, and one person toddled off to nick their furry dice from their car, I downloaded a free dice roll app in about 60 secs. The facilitator was gobsmacked, and immediately vowed that they had to get an iPhone!
Cool…..or sad
@ shaun – err i think you need to compare your blackberry vs hd2 – the hd2 wins on 50% of the measurements
@ statto – true
@ lazyboy – struggling stretching my feet out on the footstool, while munching pizza
“the hd2 wins on 50% of the measurements”
33%- depth.
