QOTD: The worst and best smartphone sites?

qotd27What, in your opinion, is the worst smartphone related website on the web today, and also the best? It would be wrong of me to choose a bad one that makes up headlines to attract visitors and then writes utter nonsense every single day so I won’t mention the site in question… you can guess.

Oh go on Shaun, name and shame.

Can’t be my blog, because no-one visits it!!!!!
    (and it’s not about smartphones)

msmobiles is the worst and fits Shauns description above perfectly

I’ll name http://www.1src.com – regrettably from being one of the busiest Palm sites with active forums and a regular podcast, it’s turned into a bit of ghost town.

And for obvious reasons, http://www.tapland.com has died a little, although there’s a still a bit of traffic on the forums. The fact that they have breaking news from 25th August 2007 says it all.

Of course, http://www.pda-247.com is my first stop every day….

This site is the best (obviously) and it’s the only one I visit everyday single day. The worst? I can’t think of any, since if I don’t like them, I stop visiting and I pretty much forget they exist!

Palm Addicts is a site I used to visit at one time. Can’t stand it now. The word ‘unctuous’ comes to mind when thinking about it…

This site & ASS are the only sites I visit every day.

Agree with Andrew about 1src.com – such a shame.

Yes, PA is pretty naff these days…..”how I used my Tungsten T to fight off 4 alligators and a school of piranha fish”

Best? PDA 24-7 of course ;-) Seriously though I love the honest analysis, though I must say that the reviews always seem to be too positive even for devices with serious flaws.

Worst? PocketPC thoughts, shamelessly plugging microsoft whilst not accepting healthy criticism. The site editor got upset when I dared question a suspect puff piece that WinMO was the king based on a survey sponsored by Microsoft. He insisted that it was unbiased despite the funding source which I thought was naive. It’s funny how Apple zealots are bashed endlessly yet Microsoft apologists are just as bad, if not worse.

I agree with Bill G on the worst, but it’s a bit like reading the National Enquirer…you know it’s probably not true, but passes the time and raises a few chuckles from time to time (especially the comments on some of the stories!)

As for the best, I have a few faves so it’s hard to pick just one to be “the best” (PDA-247 is one of them though)

There are other smartphone sites? ;)

  10. I think I know who Shaun is talking about, but tbh, I think there’s several that can fill that “description” :)
