Are you open to changing your mobile operating system if the right phone comes along? I am a definate yes to this because no OS is the best and none is that far ahead of the others for me not be able to look forward.

Sure,
I’ve been using Palm forever and would like to see what will happen in 4 or five years with WebOS and Android. But most people won’t wait that long.
Got software for the OS’s already out there – hope nothing new and exciting comes out, as I’ll have to buy more
Seriously though, there’s plenty of competition out there, and I think if they can develop, we’ll continue to have plenty of decent options out there.
I’m heavily invested in iTunes and the App Store and extremely happy with iPhone OS overall, so it would take something quite exceptional to make me switch platforms. With the momentum behind the iPhone, I really can’t see that happening any time soon.
I’m more like lazyboy in this one, I’m not that keen to move platforms after investing in lots of apps. I might move to Android but it would have to be a really very good offering to make me move. I did think I’d get a Pre, but with all the problems it’s had over here I’m not that keen right now.
Add me to Philippa and lazyboy’s team. Would need a lot of convincing anything other than iPhone is the way forward at the moment.
In the past I would have been more likely to switch because I had more time and money to start over, and to explore a new OS and buy new apps for it. But over time all that has taken a slight U-turn, and now I’m more focused on getting on with it. The new OS would also need to be able to do everything I do now of course. My next switch of OS is how ever, looking to be to the iPhone also since I am tiring of backing a dead horse each time.
After being a long-term PalmOS user, I’ve recently moved to a Palm Pre and WebOS. Apart from the phone, I’ve only bought one piece of software (the Classic emulator) so the barrier for me to jump ship is actually quite low.
I’ve had quite a good WebOS experience on the whole and no hardware problems, so I’d recommend anyone thinking of trying it out to do so. The new video recorder and editor in 1.4 is very impressive.
Now, I’ll never move to Apple because of the combination of their policies regarding what they’ll sell in the AppStore and their response to “jailbreaking”.
However, Android is tempting but all the OEM forks and absence of upgrade paths also worry me.
So there’s nothing clear cut for me. I’ll stick with Palm for now but would like to upgrade to a Palm Pre Plus for the extra memory. Any chance Palm?

Good timing…
about 10 mins before checking your blog I ordered a htc g2 to try android out.. At AUD$370 outright it is cheap enough and good for testing the waters..
The way MS have and still are treating their developers have lead me to try android out.. besides if compatibility with winphone 7 is broken there is not such a loss to leave.. Will also try out development for Android and write my next (was planned for winmo 6.x) app on Android..
I’m on the iPhone team too
but having said that I invested heavily in palm software before I left that dead horse.
For an amazing os yes I’d leave but it would need to be special.

the iphone is sweet, but nothing comes close to my hd2 and windows 6.5.5. it does everything my pc does and more.
