The Adam Android Tablet: iPad competitor or killer?

The ‘iPad Killer’ will no doubt be the phrase of the year as each new tablet is announced, but the Android powered Adam is first. Check out the video below to see what you think and Android Tapp for more details. Thanks to Joel.

Not very impressive tbh, it looks a bit too big, the rear mouse is odd (I guess you’d get used to it) and they didn’t really seem to have any software or applications to show off which is what I’m most interested in, particularly for browsing or text notetaking.

Yeah the rear mouse is odd but it has a multi-touch screen also so you can choose not to use it I guess..

I believe they said it will be available in two screen sizes. They didn’t mention in the video that it is running a dual core tegra 2 (1 ghz) cpu..

I am curious whether they will use the standard android browser or something else, i guess the android one makes sense..

What I liked was in bright light (or optional via setting) you can turn the screen to black and white and no backlight, so much easier on your eyes to read a book in bed. I always find staring at a bright screen late at night when reading a novel not optimal..

As there are so many android tablet devices being announced I don’t think software will be too problematic, I imagine a lot of apps will be resized from android phones (similar to the iphone-ipad situation)..

The first time I heard iPhone killer I was excited. But it soon became a kinda “boy cry wolf” scenario. I even read that my E71 was an iPhone killer ones! To me they seem to target different markets… but I digress.

2010 – The year we started hearing nothing but iPad killer!

    LOL

yeah I think the ‘killer’ term gets silly after a while.. but I do think it is an interesting device with some reletively unique innovations of its own, and it does represent just the tip of the iceberg in the flood of similar devices coming..

I think this market will crowd with options/competition faster than even the netbook market did.
