if he didn’t want the publicity, why did he go on a public speaking tour? he could have worked quietly with other iphone devs and let them get all the publicity.
I don’t disagree that he enjoyed the technical challenge, but when he made himself a public spectacle he should have been prepared for the consequences

@ Paul M: I disagree. I don’t think GeoHot ever wanted publicity. Those that are calling GeoHot a p@#sy or the like can only blame themselves. Right before he made the decision to close shop, I was one of the last ones to comment, telling him that I had just been thinking about how the iTouch/iPhone community feels as if they are entitled to a jailbreak/unlock, and don’t even take the time to LEARN what does what and why it does that. The majority of the community just wants a jailbreak so they can run pirated apps. Thank god Appulo.us closed shop as well; Kyek saw what was coming. Techies like GeoHot and myself don’t care to bring you pirated apps or the like. We want to develop jailbreaks because of the challenge of it. The excitement of being able to find a loophole to run (non-pirated) third party code. Thanks alot to the leeches of the community!

the guy craved publicity, got it, and realised it was as much curse as blessing
