What do you use text messaging for? That may sound like a silly question, but I ask because 95% of my incoming texts seem to be jokes, and rude ones at that:)

Mainly for personal contact until recently. Had some work done on my new car (special cleaning) and the guy who helped, self employed, used text messaging to make arrangements (I even got some quotes from other suppliers).
My iPhone is for testing my wife and son, friends and family. On my work blackberry texts are used when my email database size of 40mb is exceeded as emails can only be received not sent. Once 50mb is exceeded no emails can be received as well. Totally ridiculous size but I have one of the largest sizes allowed.
Only get a few jokes via text . Overall for personal communications.
Personal comms – and mostly cricket in the summer – -committee stuff, coaching stuff, availability etc etc. Useage much higher in summer than winter!
Without a data plan on my iPhone 3GS, I forward my gmail account to my phone’s email address. This gives me a txt message for each email I get. In this way I have a cheap email plan. I can “read” and reply in txt format if I need or wait until I find a Wifi connection. Cheap, ain’t I?
