VHS v Betamax v Apple

The comment of the day goes to Bob- “Apple’s mobile products are not aimed at techies (or just techies). The main advantage of having lots of different products is that your brand takes up more shelf space. Remember Beta vs VHS. There were lots of VHS brands but very few Beta. However, lots of different products can be confusing.

Apple doesn’t do things that way. They focus on brand recognition and word of mouth from the start. Having multiple products implies that there are advantages or disadvantages to certain features. Apple’s approach is that their product has what they think is the best at the time.

Most people don’t upgrade that frequently. Especially if they follow their contract’s upgrade cycle of 1 or 2 years.”
