So, what did you get for Christmas this year? Obviously digital items are more relevant here, but feel free to let us know what you got, no matter what it is.
Also, feel free to tell us what the day really means to you. Is it too commercialised or do you love the whole gift giving thing above all else?

Don’t know yet – opening before the missus is up = bad idea
Happy Christmas everyone mean time.
Woke up with a very sore throat. Good present for my congregation as my sermon will have to be shorter now.
Haven’t opened any prezzies yet.
Making our kids wait for their presents- they are soooooo excited!
HTC HD7
Xmas was all about Apple this year
Cooking breakfast shortly and then chilling.
Tomorrow when I have my kids for a week will be fabulous. Got some real fun stuff for them. Well I liked the remote controlled monkey.
The boys have an indoor RC Helicopter each (in theory – one is yet to arrive) – watching them struggle to master the art of flying! Our daughter is very happy to have her first MP3 player. I had (among other things, I hasten to add) a ‘nose and ear trimmer’ – funny, but I always thought they were the right size for me.
Off to church soon which makes the day for us.
@Graham – had a migraine overnight and thought I might have to call in reinforcements for the service this morning….but I’m battling through! Trust your crowd enjoyed the shorter sermon…
Amazon Kindle and Call of Duty Black Ops:)
Tom got the camera he wanted and Alice got one of these- http://www.biscuitthedog.co.uk/
Everyone happy and grateful for so many things, not just presents!
A week before Christmas apple iPad was officially release here in our region. Although it’s late especially the iPad 2 is just lurking around I still bought myself an apple iPad for Christmas.
I got an Apple TV and 1 yr. Netflix membership.
Cory got an iPhone-controlled helicopter (with video), an iPad stand for cooking, & a new video card.
Our three kids got their favs: books for the 10 y/o, legos for the 8 y/o, and assorted pretend toys for the 3 y/o.
Up at 4:50 am….
@Alloafan. I had no complaints.
Hope the migraine has lifted.
Ski for cross-country. I already tested it today morning on our golf course, where is cross-country track during winter. Tomorow morning again
Flip Ultra HD video recorder for me. Brilliantly simple!
Christmas still about the right things in our house. Mrs Stats & kids practising christians so we all did church this morning. I’m not particularly religious, but know where I stand on Christmas. And it’s not commercialism…
We toned it down this year because we got iPads and iPhone 4s earlier in the year. So small but thoughtful things. Among other small stuff, my wife got me a t-shirt with a picture of my cat with the caption Bob’s Cat. I suggested that she should have had a picture of me with teh caption Everest’s (the cat’s name) human. I got her a calendar I put together in iPhoto with pics of all the animals (7 cats and 3 dogs). By the way, Apple (or whoever does it for them) does a fantastic job on the stuff you can get from iPhoto. The calendar was beautiful. All the pics are sharp and bright. Heck, it’s cheaper than having a bunch of photos printed.
As for what Christmas means to me, it’s really the spirit of Christmas since I was born Jewish and really don’t practice anything. It’s family and thinking of people and reflecting on the year and what’s coming. Even though everyone’s rushing around like crazy, I try to mellow out. Zen like. It took many years before I learned that everything will come together. Sometimes it’s early and sometimes it’s Christmas Eve, but it does seem to come together. And whatever’s left over doesn’t matter anyway.
Have a safe holiday everyone and a happy and healthy New Year.
Bob
We bought a couple of Apple calendars of Tom’s photos and they came out great. Expensive though with shipping and everything included.
OK so I finally have an Apple Touch! Damn cool machine! Oh if only HP could make a Web OS phone with this kind of pop!! Also now playin Black Ops, Donkey Kong, and Mario Brothers on Wii. Actually the kids are – they wont let me on yet! Merry Christmas to all of you here on PDA247 and a wonderful healthy New Year!
Coconut fudge, a pair of jeans from FCUK that I might have been able to squeeze into in 1983, Inception BluRay, Maltesers and a jumper.
@Shaun – How’s the kindle experience?
Somewhat positive:)
@Shaun – in my experience, the shine does wear off but it settles down into being a piece of tech that is just a regular part of life, not a luxury or an indulgence. It isn’t spectacular in its nature, just a solid, reliable piece of equipment that you almost come to take for granted. Coupled with its price, that makes it a winner I think.
