So… Are you going to then…?

Today’s the launch day – 28th May.

So have you slept all night outside a UK store, waiting to get your hands on it?  Please let us know your first impressions?

I’ve been thinking about it myself – after all it’s got double the memory than the original Pre…

Okay I’m kidding, but can’t help but raise an eyebrow at whomever decided to release the Palm Pre Plus in the UK on the same day…

webOS 1.4

palmReports are emerging that some GSM users have started to receive the latest webOS update. Excellent news if so (Yours truly will let you know when it arrives at mine – not yet!).

The latest update is supposed to bring performance enhancements, some new features, and importantly, support for Flash (Note: Flash to be available later, as a separate download).  Support for European App Purchases is also due, Palm said March (Though maybe its part of the update?).

More information to follow…

Palm Pre ROM Update available to GSM Phones

palmPalm (/O2?) has pushed out the new 1.3.5.2 update to GSM Phones (At least, it’s arrived at mine).

I’ll be back with a more detailed review, as in my opinion this release has the Pre as something quite special now.

However, mean time – one point for Palm Classic (The Palm OS Emulator) users – It would appear that the application in the store isn’t correctly “Tagged”, as searches for “Classic” or “Emulator” aren’t finding it.  What you need to do (workaround) is to select the category “Popular” from the main page of the App Catalog, and scroll down (quite a way, keeping your eyes open) and you’ll see “Classic Emulator”.   Hopefully not too many people are having any issue here.

PREview requests

webosI promised a review of the Palm Pre to Shaun this week, but have held off.  Mainly because there’s a mountain of reviews already out there that tell you roughly the same thing.  I’m therefore preparing something much more detailed, different, and analytical.

As part of this, could I ask – is there anything any of you want to know, that perhaps hasn’t been answered yet.  You’ve thought about getting one, but somethings stopping you?  Maybe you’ve some concerns not quite so clear in other reviews?

Please drop a comment, and I’ll try and include everything I can.  Included is things such as a real depth test of the battery life under conditions, compared to the iPhone.  Also, I plan to give a good look at “Classic” – the Palm OS emulator, that if O2 pushes out the 1.2 patch, I’ll be able to test the hotsync with, and let you know whether you can truly run datebk6 properly (There’s alarm “integration” btw…)

All comments welcome as always.

Pocket Informant 1.10 for iPhone now available

Pocket InformantI don’t normally point out releases, but for iPhone users with calendar aspirations, this release adds some important items.

More information is on the app store page, and at PI’s website.   My key items are:

  • Push Alarms – reminders etc are now a reality
  • Filters
  • Lots of new options available for To-do’s, including Toodledo project handling improvements
  • Toodledo mode for tasks allows for multiple Next Actions per project
  • Landscape mode now supported
  • The next release – 1.2 – promises templates and icons among the features

Update available for HTC Touch Diamond 2

HTC’s Website is showing a ROM update for the Touch Diamond2.

However, before you leap to download, I’m not clear on what it brings – improved functions is listed just as “This upgrade adds the financial information service providers icon in TouchFLOTM Stock tab”.   There may be some other issues resolved as well though.

Available from the HTC website, as always you’ll need your device serial number.
