A few weeks back, I was caught up in a discussion regarding the emergence of Azingo, a new Linux variant for smartphones, and how the company was attempting to conquer a trail already marked out by the ACCESS Linux Platform (ALP).  I’d like to see ALP successful.  This doesn’t come from any disdain for closed platforms or a belief in Linux as technology’s savior (I tried to love Ubuntu, really I did).  I just want to upgrade to a platform that can meaningfully move forward and still allow me to …

Applying a screen protector can be a frustrating, annoying and terrifying experience. You may think I am being too cautious, but it can be extremely difficult to attach a screen protector to a phone without creating air bubbles and getting dust stuck under the protector. You have one chance to attach it correctly because any imperfections will ruin your viewing experience and you will then need to purchase another one. Here is a simple trick that genuinely works and should improve your chances …

This is in reply to David’s post here
I’ve just bought a Tytn II and the proporta (flip style) case, having been very pleased with my iPod and IPAQ proporta cases in the past. As you say it does affect the typing which needs greater pressure, although it is bearable. The fit of my case was very good, however, and in most other respects I was quite pleased, …

Since acquiring a T-Mobile MDA Mail I have managed to set everything up as I would like except GPS which has become a major pain to get working. I have tried a few solutions and none of them have worked acceptably so I decided to try out my copy of TomTom Navigator 6. With help from the marvellous XDA Developers site I have finally managed to get TomTom running on my smartphone but there is a bit of set up required and admittedly it …

Hello Shaun,
I’m not a total expert in internet telephony, but I’m no noob, and it took me a while to get this working using my home wifi connection, so I thought I’d share it with the readers.
*** Firstly, find your wireless lan and create a connection entry for it.
MENU button -> [icon/tools] -> [icon/settings] -> [icon/connection] -> [tab/Access Points] Create a new access point, using options, new, default, give it a name e.g. “wifi home”, change data bearer to wireless, scan for the access …

MobSync is an incredibly useful application. I have been using it on my v1605 for transferring Plucker documents and spreadsheets etc. For example tell Sunrise to generate it’s output to a folder on your PC and then to sync with a folder on your PPC’s storage card and that’s all you need to do. A great, free tool to keep thinks in sync.

In the Wireless LAN settings of Preferences, PowerSaveMode is selected by default to save the battery power of your Clie handheld when communicating via Wireless LAN. Communications with other devices or performing the HotSync operations via the wireless LAN may take more time than when not in Power Save Mode.
To shorten the wireless LAN communication time or HotSync operation time, or to increase more stable performance, deselect PowerSaveMode. Please note that the …
